Southwest Travel

Post by lovethebeach » Tue Nov 14, 2017 7:44 pm

Has Anyone used Southwest Travel all inclusive packages and how did it go??? We've never even flown Southwest - kind of like to have my seat reserved - but prices this year so far seem high - guess due to high jet fuel costs - and their package is the lowest I've found so far. I read that they use Lomas as their travel transfer from airport to resort - never used them either - ok???? Only other thing worried about is not having a rep at the resort to ask questions and finding out when pick up is for return to the airport. (We only have dumb phones that don't work in Mexico - so would we have to call from room or lobby to find return time????) Thanks for help.

We have used Southwest Vacations several times for the resort/ flight package when going to Mexico. They are usually cheaper than other companies and we’ve never had a problem with them. And Southwest has nonstop flights from Denver to Cancun - a major plus. We never book our transfer with them. Instead, we usually use USA Transfers - reasonably priced, dependable, and are nonstop and private, unlike the Lomas transfer you would get through Southwest.

Forgot to add that if you book USA Transfers, you will get emailed confirmations soon after booking. The “return” email will specifically tell you when they will pick you up for your return to,the airport. When booking, you will give them your flight information.

We love Southwest Vacations. We use to use Apple Vacations who uses Frontier Airlines. When Frontier became a low cost airline we started using Southwest because Frontiers service was soon bad. Prices are good, customer service is great, and they are usually on time. I have used NAST, Canada Transfers, and AGI. All are very good, awaiting your arrival in Cancun and will give you a pickup time to return to the airport.

I've never used Southwest Travel but Southwest Airlines is highly regarded as a good choice in the St. Louis area. I flew SW for my recent trip to NYC and thought the service was great. You can check in up to 24hrs early and that gets your boarding position. The earlier you board the better choice of seats so if you don't have a smartphone make arrangements to be able to check in from the resort the day before your departure.

For most of our trips, we've flown Frontier but now that SW is offering weekly non-stops to Cancun we're hoping that gives us even better options. For the Get Together in May, we're actually flying down on Frontier and returning on SW's Saturday flight.

As for the transportation, we've been using private transfers but our very first trip in 2012 we booked a package with included transfer and they used Lomas. We had no problems and we shared the ride with a couple from our flight who were booked in a nearby resort. It added probably 20 minutes to our trip which isn't a huge deal but I've come to appreciate how nice private transfers are.

You can always email Lomas and tell them that you will be using their transportation as part of a package with Southwest. Ask them when do you find out about your return and what time it will be.
We have always used private and when we arrive at the resort the driver tells us our return time that they will be picking us up. Not sure if it will work that way with Lomas. We have never had a rep at the resort with any of the transport companies we have used.
