Onsite Activities

The air-conditioned Sunset disco is open every night. The hours are 9pm till 10:30pm for minors under 18, and 11pm till 2am for adults. The room can easily accommodate a couple hundred people. They have a full service bar with comfortable bar stools as well as waiter service for the tables and booths. The disco is equipped with a state of the art light and sound system. They have a live DJ who is open for music suggestions - he'll play anything from 'the chicken dance' to hard rock. The music volume does tend to be a little LOUD.

There's no formal dress code - it's rather dark in there so unless you're on the dance floor nobody can see what you're wearing anyway. It does get quite busy at times. It's a popular nightspot for many of the wedding parties. It's not unusual to see a couple of brides and their entourage, in their gowns and barefoot, on the dance floor. A number of the 'Fun Team' members (animation staff) are usually in attendance and help keep the atmosphere lively. When you first enter the room it may look smoky but it's not cigarette smoke - it's harmless fog generated for theatrical purposes. The disco has a very efficient ventilation system. When you're ready to stagger back to your room at the end of the night, there is a'train stop'a few feet away in the Riviera lobby.Even if you're not a disco fan,the Sunset Disco is an experience you should not miss.

Dancing

The Palladium has four or five house bands that alternate playing in both the Gran Azul and La Laguna bars from 8pm til 11pm every night. They play both easy listening and various dance music. There are also a number of solo and duos that play in the lobbies starting around 5pm. This is in addition to the disco that's open from 11pm till 2am for adults only.
