ATTENTION MEMBERS - Fiesta seeking suggestions!!

Postby Brenda » Fri Jul 30, 2010 7:59 pm

Felipe is asking our members for suggestions regarding a new concept at the resorts. He writes the following to our members:

1. American Corner.- Every night, except for one night a week in Punta Cana and Jamaica, we will have in all our buffet restaurants what we have called “American Corner” There will be several traditional or well know American dishes, In Vallarta and Riviera Maya this corner will always be available.

You can see below how each one of these dishes will be indicated. There will also be a sign (I don’t know how big yet but it will depend on the resort or restaurant).

2. Every day, for lunch and in our buffets (air conditioned or open air such as Gran Azul, La Laguna o Blue Lagoon) we will improve the selection of hamburgers at the show cooking. Not limited but we are introducing a new home made hamburger, a chicken hamburger, a fish hamburger, jumbo hot dog, etc. (it may vary from one resort to another depending on the available space but it will not be very different). We need your help to decide the name of this new idea. So, can we ask the Palladium Addicts to give us some suggestions?

You can also see that we are working on a logo that will help our guests to identify these dishes.
This is just one test but it will be something similar.
Mc Palladium doesn’t sound bad but it’s to similar to McDonalds and we would like something different.

Our Staff in Bavaro had both ideas and that makes us feel particularly proud of them.

I know our addicts love to help us with this type of things so…feel free to send us your suggestions!!!!

Thank you,

I like McPalladium - but in case there are legal issues.... how about "American Grill" - simple and it sells itself.... kind of like a BLT (bacon, lettuce tomatoe sandwhich - it just is, WHAT IT IS!)

I vote for AMERICAN GRILL

plenty of toppings like sauteed onions & sauteed sliced mushrooms - you could skip the fish sandwich. Earlier idea - BLTs (bacon lettuce and tomator sandwich and grill it with cheese); Philly cheeseteaks (shaved beef on a roll with sauteed onions, green peppers, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce)

One name idea: Burger Barn but I do like American Grill

Gotta go - just made myself hungry.

However if truth be told I would rather frequent a Yucatecan or true Mexican cuisine corner. (Having never been to the Palladium maybe you already have one). I can get burgers at home.

The resort offers Philly Cheeseteak at the Sports Bar and at the snack bar

First suggestion: Burgers, milkshakes, COKE products :) onion rings, fries, grilled cheese, corn dogs, spaghetti and meatballs, cheese-steak sandwiches, sundaes, ...

Second suggestion: American Diner [there's nothing that says American food like the word, "Diner"], Burger Bar, Palladium Diner, Maya's Diner, ...

Here's a classic American diner menu:

Please forgive me for breaking the format of the reply post here but I have a question.
The American dish suggestions that we come up with are suppose to be only for the the dinner buffets, correct?

Yes, traditional or well know American dishes

This is what will be in the new American Corner and has nothing to do with the lunch menu, right?
Correct

Second suggestion:
Name for the logo is needed for the lunch show cooking station featuring burgers etc.

I have a question?!
What will be removed to make way for american corner??!
Im not american so cant comment really on typical US meals (never been the US so my knowledge is limited to meals I think have a US origin)

Hamburgers
Cheeseburgers
Fries
Chicken Sandwich (like McChicken or Chicken Royale)
Onion rings (im talking proper onion rings made from rings of onion in a batter not the chopped up onion in soggy batter)

thats me out I think - a lot of stuff that has been suggested I either dont know what it is or dont like :s Just like I hate that the french toast in a morning has icing sugar and cinnamon in it bleurgh :| just egg and bread is good to go

Names
El Rancho Grill
The Pass
Gridlers
Gridlock
Quarterbacks
Cafe Mamo/Salsa
Bring on 2010 :) Returning back to the GP 1st August Whoopwhoop

My suggestion would be to have "turkey Club" sandwiches and Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwiches along with "cheeseburger deluxes and a "fishwitch" sandwich.. Like someone else said.... what is more American than a Diner.. It could be called the "Palladium diner "

I'm not against the idea of American dishes, some people are hard to please, but I'm concerned it might replace some things that are WAY more interesting (like everything already there). I can eat that kind of junk food every day, why the Heaven would I go to Mexico to do that? I love food and I travel with my stomach, if the buffets were getting too Americanized, then I would probably just go vacation elsewhere. Instead of replacing stuff in the buffet, couldn't you open a "walk-in" (no drive-in possible on the resort) restaurant in the Grand Azul/Laguna with that food, they are closed in the evening anyway.

If you want to incorporate American food, at least don't choose the typical junk like burgers, hot-dogs, ... A few suggestions: roast beef, fruit pies/crumbles (blueberry, strawberry, apple, ... not necessarily all at once, it could easily be in rotation), chowders (clam, corn, fish)(the cream one, not the tomato based one :P), fish-n-chips (English origin, but who cares), biscuit bread (mostly for breakfast), chicken wings (junk, but what can you say, I love those) and BBQ ribs. If you want something on the "sandwich" side, maybe some sort of sub-like grill counter that could easily serve Philly-style, pulled-pork, smoked-meat (pastrami) and any similar stuff that could all be stuffed in burger buns (for simplicity).

la parrilla iguana is my new suggested name :)

I am NOT in favor of an American corner at the Palladium. We're going to Mexico so how about a nice Mexican corner with genuine Mexican dishes. I'm not talking about a Taco Bell kind of thing either but something with the kind of food you would find in a typical restaruant in Mexico. We get American food 24-7 and would like to experience something different when we leave the country.
