Can I request a specific room, building or floor before arriving?
Yes, approximately 1-2 weeks prior to your arrival. You must have your travel documents with your itinerary number. E-mail the reservations department with your request. You will receive a reply stating that they will try to honor it but cannot guarantee it and is subject to availability.
Is it safe to use the ice and drink the tap water?
The ice is safe to use, but do not drink the tap water in your room. Only drink the bottled water.(Safety tip, place a sock over the tap in the bathroom to remind yourself not to drink or rinse your toothbrush with the tap water).
Do I have to bring my own soap and shampoo etc.?
No. Shampoo, body soap gel, bar soap along with a shower cap are supplied. There is also lotion and razor kits located in the Royal Suites Turquesa. (Tip, bring your own washcloths, there is a minimal supply at the resort).
Do I need to bring an adapter for the electrical outlets?
No. The electricity is 110 volts. The outlets accept the standard three prong plugs used in the U.S. Due to the construction of the rooms the plugs are somewhat recessed and you may have difficulty with plug-in chargers. You may wish to bring a short extension cord or adapters are available at the supermarket for under one dollar.
Are there alarm clocks in the rooms?
No. They do offer a wake-up call service by notifying the front desk or operator the night before or you can self program a wake up call using the instructions.
Are there coffee makers, hair dryers, irons, ironing boards, and safes in the rooms?
Yes.
Does the resort have Cribs?
Yes, you may request to have a crib brought in when making a room request.
Can I receive incoming calls in my room?
Yes. Incoming calls will be transferred to your room.
Can I use a calling card to make outgoing telephone calls from my room?
Yes, for local or long distance calls from your room the rates are: local calls: 1-3 minutes (10 RD$ per minute); Every additional minute (1 RD$); To mobiles (7RD$ per minute); International calls to Europe (70 RD$ per minute); International calls to USA (37 RD$ per minute); International calls to Canada (40 RD$ per minute); international calls to South and Central America (50 RD$ per minute); International calls to the Pacific (75 RD$ per minute). When do the maids service the rooms?
Rooms will be cleaned between 8:00am and 5:00pm. If you would like to have service at a special time, please communicate this to the front desk and we will do everything possible to satisfy your wish. Utilize cleaning service signs found in your room when you would like your room cleaned and when you do not wish to be disturbed. There are also cards to report any room problems.
How often is my mini bar refilled?
The mini fridge is normally refilled everyday with beer, water, and soda.
Are there any TV channels in English?
Yes, there are a few, including news and sports channels.
What are the major differences between the 3 sections of the resort?
General Information - The Grand Palladium Resort (Fiesta Hotel Group) has done a fantastic job in incorporating this resort complex into the existing lovely natural setting. They have taken great pride to keep the natural setting and the flora and fauna that goes with it. Nice to see that modern technology can live in harmony with the environment at this resort. They take great pride in this and will let the natural environment heal and rebuild itself after any storm damage. It is such a pleasure to be able to hear the birds singing and seeing all sorts of wildlife in their natural habitat while vacationing in Paradise. This resort complex is also close to a variety of excursions for everyone's tastes. Any area that you choose, you will be very happy with, and you get to explore and use all sections of the resort. It is amazing and a lot of fun. And if you get "walked out", there is always the train or the golf carts to give you a ride. The staff are the friendliest people. You will find beautiful landscaped paths throughout the whole resort. The most incredible selection of scrumptious food. Great activities. Great shopping. Kids Club. Their newly built spa offers a wide variety of free facilities and special services (additional charge). Bavaro Section - The Bavaro section is built on a long stretch of beautifully landscaped property. This is where you will find most of the action in this magnificent resort. It is home to El Arrecife (located at the beach) serving lunch buffet style and grill, and in the evening, one of the many A LA Cartes, serving International dinners. La Cathedral, located near the lobby, serves the largest breakfast, lunch (closed in low season for lunch) and dinner buffet themes. Other a la carte restaurants located on this property are La Gran Cantina Mariachi, El Quijote, and Bamboo restaurants. This property also hosts the 24 hour Sports Bar and the infamous Hemingways Bar, where you can sign the Palladium Addict guest book during your stay. For entertainment, you will find the Amphitheatre Grand Palladium, located outside the Bavaro lobby, along side of the Sunset Boulevard Discotheque. There is also a Super Mercado, small gift shops and a medical office in this area.
Punta Cana Section - Neighboring the Bavaro section, this part of the resort is best known for its close proximity to everything one needs to have a great family vacation. With only a few steps from your room, you have complete access to not one, but two pristine and refreshing large pools that are close to the beach. For your dining needs, there is La Uva, located at the beach serving continental breakfasts between 10:00am and 12:00 noon, lunch buffet until 3:00pm, and a la carte snacks between 3:00pm and 5:00pm. You will also find El Behique, located behind the reception lobby, serving breakfast, lunch buffet and dinner theme buffets. For entertainment, there is the Amphitheatre Grand Palladium Punta Cana. It is located behind villa 67. In addition, this section of the resort is home to the sports center complex that holds organized activities and competitions throughout the day.
Palace Resort Spa & Casino Section - Along side of the Punta Cana section, the Palladium Palace Resort has their cozy villas closest to the beach with a large pool located in its center. El Bohio, located at the beach offers lunch, buffet style and grill. Las Torres, located in front of the reception serves breakfast, buffet style and dinner theme buffets. Mare Nostrum, known for serving Tratorian specialties is located next to Las Torres. If you enjoy gambling, this section lets you play at the resort's casino, located in front of the lobby bar. This section also has small gift shops, and a medical service building. If you are looking for a more private and quieter vacation with additional amenities, this section allows you to stay in the upgraded Royal Suites Turquesa area. This section is Adults only located at the furthest end of the Grand Palladium. You will find this section the more quiet and personal side of the resort as it is exclusive for the use of the Royal Suites Turquesa Guests only. You have access to all the aspects, amenities and services of the Bavaro, Punta Cana and Palace . In this section you will have access to unlimited a la cartes during your stay, free Internet (cable and wireless), and room service at a very minimal fee. The pool areas in this section are exclusive to the Royal Suite guests only and therefore Adult only with a very unique feel.

What are the check-in and checkout times?
Check-in time is 3:00pm hour. Check-out is 12:00 noon. Late check-outs available for extra fee upon availability of rooms.
What is the proper attire at the resort?
BEACH BARS: Beach wear LUNCH BUFFETS: Beach wear, shorts, t-shirts and shoes/flip flops are acceptable. Sorry, no bathing suits. DINNER BUFFETS: Men should not wear sleeveless shirts, casual dress shorts are acceptable. A LA CARTES: it is obligatory for gentlemen to wear long pants (i.e. Dockers,) shirt with sleeves and shoes/sandals (i.e. polo/tropical shirts). Women may wear capris, sun dresses, shoes/sandals. Heels are not recommended for lack of comfort. Children under 12 may wear good shorts to the a la carte.
Can I checkout the night before I leave?
Yes. You can check out and settle your account between 7pm and midnight the evening before leaving. Be sure to turn in your towel cards and get a "check out pass" that you'll need for the bell captain before being allowed to depart.
Is there a doctor at the resort?
Yes. There are two medical offices located in the Bavaro section and Palace section of the resort 24 hours a day. Their professional services are not included in the all-inclusive plan. Payment by cash or credit card will be required. If you have travel insurance, you may be refunded the total amount of your medical bill depending on your plan.
Is laundry service available?
Yes. In your closet you'll find a price list and a plastic laundry bag.
Do I need local currency?

Are there any Internet rooms at the resort?
Each lobby has an internet corner along with the 24 hour sports bar (DSL connected). There is an $8.00 USD per hour hour charge.
What do we do in case of severe weather such as a hurricane?
In case of an alarm, the resort has shelters available. Executive personal and hotel management will inform guests of the measures and procedures established. Detailed information will be provided through the information channel on your TV. A detailed emergency plan is posted behind every room door in the resort explaining what to do in each circumstance.
What if a power failure occurs?
In case of emergency, the resort has its own back-up power generators, however it is not uncommon to lose power.
Will my cell phone work in Punta Cana?
Maybe. During the past year many new cell towers have been added and service has improved dramatically. Unfortunately not all cell phone carriers have service available. Check with your provider in advance. (Verizon works very well at the Palladium.)
Does the beach have lifeguards on duty?
No lifeguards at the beach or pools. Children must be supervised by adults at all times.
Is transportation available around the resort?
Yes. There are two diesel powered "trains" that operate from approximately 10am till 2am. Each "train" has a capacity of up to 50 passengers. They circle the entire resort making stops along the way. Their frequency and routes vary with the time of day.
How much cash should we bring with us?
Since your vacation is already pre-paid, not that much. At the Palladium you'll only need cash for tips and small incidentals. Generally 100 to 300 US dollars in singles and small bills will be sufficient (depending on length of stay and number of family members). If you plan on using a private transfer, shopping in town, or taking some side trips, bring additional funds and/or a credit card. If you find yourself running low on cash, you can always make a withdrawal from the ATM near the resort.
Does the Palladium have a theme song?

Is there a spa on site?
The new spa is located between the Palace and Royal receptions. It allows all the following services without charge: Fitness, Sauna, Turkish bath and Jacuzzi (with reservations) For an additional charge, Massage and beauty treatments are available with previous reservations.
Where do i find information regarding water sports?
On the Bavaro Resort beach, you will find a huge variety of water activities, including windsurfing, catamaran, kayaks, etc. The diving school is also located at the Bavaro resort beach, along with snorkel tours, para-sailing etc.
What are the pool hours?
7:00am - 7:00pm.
Does the resort offers fitness classes?
Yes, the animation team runs aerobic classes along with yoga and dance lessons. Check the board at the front desk or by the pool for all times and schedules of daily activities.
Where can I watch major sporting events from back home?
The air-conditioned Sports Bar outside of the Bavaro Lobby has a number of monitors showing many international sporting events via satellite TV. For important international events (Superbowl, olympic games, world cups, etc.) they will be broadcast at the theaters on giant screen.
Does the resort have a disco?
Yes, The Discotheque Sunset Boulevard, open from 11:15pm - 2:00am.
What is there to do on a rainy day?
In the rare event of a rainy, non-beach day, most activities move indoors to the lobbies, theaters and even the disco. The Palladium's "Animation Team" has a number of organized activities planned from morning to late afternoon to keep you busy. It's also a good day to visit the Sports Bar - or any of the bars. Is there a mini club for children?
Yes. The MiniClub Fiesta Fort offers your children a variety of supervised activities. Open from 9:00am - 5:00pm and 7:00pm to 11:00pm for children ages 4 to 12.
How many bars are there?
Bars are quite plentiful at the resort 15 Bars are scattered throughout the resorts. There are 6 kiosk bars right on the beach, 4 pool bars, 3 Lobby bars, one Sports Bar and Hemingway cocktail bar. Additionally: there is bar service in each theater and Royal guests also have exclusive access to their pool bar and lobby bar.
How many ala carte reservations will I get?
The Palladium is now using a pager system for the a la carte dining. All guests now have unlimited a la cartes. If you wish to dine at a particular restaurant you must check in with the manager at that restaurant. You will be informed at that time if there is a sitting available on that night. If there is not an immediate opening you will be given a pager. When a table becomes available your pager will beep and shine for 5 minutes. Your table will be held for 10 minutes and if you have not arrived within this time your table could be assigned to other guests. In order to receive your pager you will be required to leave your room key. In the case of a lost or damaged pager there will be a $100.00 charge assigned to your room. Royal Suites Turquesa guests may make reservations at any a la carte restaurant and these reservations need to be made at least 24 hours in advance.
How are food allergies dealt with?
There is a great buffet selection available for all kind of taste and diet. There are fresh salads, fruits, rice, bread, different kinds of sausages, hams, etc. We are pretty sure that you will always find an option. It is very important that you advise our Public Relations Desk about your food allergy. We have our Staff available to help you at the Buffets and Restaurants (Restaurant Manager). There is also a healthy food corner in all buffet retaurants with vegetables and meats cooked without oil, steamed, low in salt / no salt, and other options.
When are the evening beach BBQs?
There is usually a beach BBQ scheduled for Thursday evenings however this is subject to change,
Is smoking permitted in the restaurants and buffets?
Smoking is not permitted inside any of the restaurants or buffets. Some a la cartes have outside seating where smoking is allowed. Smoking is allowed in any of the open air beach buffets. Arrecife is the only a la carte with a smoking section.
What is the legal drinking age in Punta Cana?
Eighteen years old. All minors will receive a special color wristband alerting bartenders of their non-drinking status.
Is the milk they serve pasteurized?
Yes. It is ultra-pasteurized and needs no refrigeration until opened.
