Chic reservation charge

Post by MindyH8 »

I am very upset that I booked 10 days at TRS April 20 to 30; 2020 expecting that the Chic show would be part of our package. Now they are saying on the website that starting in January 2020 there will be a $20 reservation fee per person to go to Chic. We already have gold bands so I could have booked a suite at the White Sands and still used everything else at the TRS. We booked November 6th, shouldn’t ones who were already booked before this went into effect be grandfathered in?

In my opinion the $20 charge is not a lot , as the show is well worth it .

My issue is that there wasn’t a charge when I booked. Should honor all reservations booked before this was done and then charge any new reservations with full disclosure.

I think it's very sad when an All Inclusive starts "Nickel and Diming" its guests. Frankly, I was offended when VIP guests had to pay to attend Chic -"You're important to us, but not that important." This is even worse; What next, twenty dollars for an extra special, exclusive breakfast?

I think it really depends on where you get to sit. I wouldn't pay $20 to be placed way off the edge like we did last time.
Perhaps with the reservation you are now also able to choose your seats from a seating chart?

I may be wrong but I think that what they are saying is that the fee only applies to new reservations made after Jan. 1st. Reservations made prior to that date, then there is no fee regardless when your arrival date is. So you will not have to pay the fee since you booked before Jan. 1, 2020.

Now whether the fee applies to both TRS and non-TRS guests alike, hopefully Kenia or Lizeth will reply and clarify.

Cactusrose- iI hope you are right. I don’t see how they could change it when we have already entered into a contract with the resort by booking the trip as it was advertised. I will have to look into it further. We have booked a TRS one bedroom suite for April and I booked on November 6th.

It will most likely be clarified by one of the Hospitality Managers here. They read all of the threads and new posts. No need to do the investigating. If they don't, I'll email them myself and post their reply here.

There have been other changes here over the years where it was stated that after a certain date, the policy would change. All guests that had booked before the new date changes went into effect were not affected.

*** I forgot to add that gold band VIP guests will no longer receive free CHIC tickets.

Saw on a Facebook page that anyone booked prior to the announcement is exempt, but those booked after the announcement will have to pay. What day did they post the announcement?

I believe that what they're referring to is anyone booked before the date of January 1st 2020 is exempt....not the date of the actual announcement. Unfortunately things get blown out of proportion and people's input gets misinterpreted as fact. Let's all wait till management clarifies things.

I heard back from Kenia, the RM Hospitality Manager. Looks like even management needs to clarify what the actual new policy is! ……

"Hello June,

First an apology for the delay in response, we are gathering information about it in order to provide you a prompt response.

I also copy to our TRS Yucatan management team who can help us clarify this doubt.

Kind regards,

Kenia Rodriguez
Hospitality Manager"

Saw on Facebook page that a rep from Chic posted that all TRS hotel reservations made prior to December 1, 2019 are exempt from charge but any reservations made after the announcement on December 19 will have it added to their room when they make the reservation for Chic and will be billed on checkout.

From their announcement:
"Applies for room reservations made from December 1, 2019, for guests traveling from January 1, 2020 onwards.
All room reservations made before December 1, 2019 will not have to pay the reservation fee for Chic Cabaret & Restaurant."

Why did the CHIC rep only post it over on Facebook? There's members here that need to know also. I'm going back and forth between the three PA groups trying to find out info. :22: I've read that certain levels of the TC and all TRS members are exempt from this extra fee?? :58:

This is absolutely crazy!!!! Why didn't they say that in the original announcement then? There was absolutely nothing mentioning anything about reservations being made prior to Dec. 1, 2019 are exempt and after Dec. 19th there is a charge!!! The date said Jan 1, 2020!!! So what is the actual date and does this just apply to TRS guests like the statement said by the CHIC rep? What about guests that made their reservations months ago that are staying in the non-TRS resorts?

All this does is cause confusion and lots of back and forth posts with people confused and people posting on how they interpreted it (including my own) These new policies need to be written with much more clarity than they have been. Seems like every change of policy notice that is posted we go thru this round and around trying to figure out what it means!! Aaaaaaaaaagh.

As I stated in my previous post, I'm just going to wait to hear it from the "horses mouth" before I post again about this. I hope then that a new clear policy statement is then issued by management with lots of specific details/info. :15:
