TRS - room mini bar

Post by Mr_Jolly »

Couple of questions please. Just booked TRS for next year. We have stayed in the main resort a couple of times but not the royals before. Does anyone know if a single person can book and stay or would that not be possible. We have a relative that is single and from the UK it seems very difficult. Can the person book say Colonial and then upgrade via the hotek. Second question, how does the room alcohol work, with picking your favourite drink. :51: Any help much appreciated.

As far as as know a single person can book a TRS room, but would have to pay whatever they charge for a single supplement as the room rates are based on double occupancy. The cost won't be half of what a couple pays and the single supplement results usually in the solo guest paying a lot more than if you divided the room rate in half. One could book Colonial, and then hope to upgrade once they arrive at the resort, but there may or may not be availability at that time.

Once you book TRS, you can fill out a form on their website or contact ebutler, and be sent the form to fill out your room amenity preferences, including preferred liquor. You can request 2 large bottles of your favourite liquor, which can be replenished if you drink them all before your week is up. The TRS mini bar is stocked with beer, soft drinks, water, juice, nuts and Snickers Bars. Sometimes you also get the small cans of Pringles.

Is this pretty much how it works everywhere else too, Jackie?

12 of my 14 trips have been me booking single-occupancy, and most of those have been in the Royal/TRS. I know I pay a premium - i.e., more than half of what a double-occupancy costs - but don't recall what that premium is.

The bottle thing is kind of whacky. At one point, reports were that it was "one bottle per person at a time" (get replacements when a bottle is empty) - so, two guests in a room, two bottles. I've also seen just "two bottles per room at a time", with no reference to number of occupants.

When I went in November as a single occupant, I requested three on the e butler form just to see what would happen and got four. I had definitely booked after the changes, so I don't know......Maybe they knew I'd empty them :9:

eta: when I filled out my e butler form, there was no restriction listed nor (obviously) did the form stop me from requesting more than two.

I've not really had personal experience at any of the TRS locations other than RM, but I believe it would be a similar process.

I wonder if it's possible for you to make a reservation for him for a single-occupancy room at TRS? You could give his name, his credit card number, credit card that the payment would be applied to, and his passport number. That's really all they ask when you fill out the form online to book. Then he could just reimburse you for the cost of the room once he arrives or before.

Many thanks for the replies.

I have found the Menu bar GP download but do you get any upgraded drinks at the TRS, like Grey Goose ? Is there another list available anywhere ?

Cheers
