Sofa beds

Post by karlp028 »

What are the sofa bed mattresses currently like at White Sands or Colonial? Are they suitable for an older teen or young adult? We are planning a trip for later this year and have had bad experiences with cheap spring mattresses generally found in many hotels.

They aren't great but aren't horrible. I think it depends on weight and size of person. Comfort is also subjective. You can ask for a mattress topper from housekeeping. We did once when we were in a Kantenah Jr. suite and they brought one.

I slept on the one in White Sand before. It was fine except I had to ask for a duvet to lay down under the sheet to lay on top of. The person didn't seem to understand what I meant when I said a mattress topper, so they brought the duvet. Worked fine That made it much more comfy.

Are there sofa beds in both Colonial and White Sands? Can a 3rd child use that. I am wondering about it because 2 families with 3 kids each are traveling with us next year.

Yes there are sofa beds in the Jr. suites of both Colonial and White Sand (not Deluxe rooms in Colonial).

What are the ages of the kids in those two families? On the Palladium Hotel Group booking website the maximum number of kids (12 and under) allowed in (1) Jr. suite room with two adults is 2 children. If one of the three children is under 3 years of age, then the child is considered a "baby" and can be in the room with the other two children. If any of the kids are over 12 then they are considered "adults" and pay adult rates.

**They probably will have to book 2 Jr. suite rooms on one reservation.

Colonial does offer an accommodation that would work called a "Connecting suite" (check availability for your dates). It's two connecting Jr. suites but is more money than booking two separate Jr. suites.

White Sand also offers a "Suite" connected to a Jr. suite but there are only three of these per villa and cannot be booked in advance. Must be done at check-in (you risk the problem then of it not being available).

**When booking on the Palladium Hotel Group for two Jr. suite rooms (currently there is a discount code to use: STAY10 that can be applied), they would book one Jr. suite first with one adult and one child (with age). Do not submit yet. Right after putting in the info. for the first room there will appear the words: "Book Another Room". Click on that and go back and book another Jr. suite room but this time put in one adult and two children (with ages).
