Is DR tourism down this year?

Post by wpggrant » Sat Feb 17, 2018 10:00 pm

We are at the GPP Punta Cana right now...3rd full day. Definitely no problem getting loungers on the beach or at the pool. In fact, at its busiest today, maybe 10% of the beach loungers were occupied. Neighboring resorts seem to have similar occupancy. GPP buffet is shut down for dinner. Japanese closed some nights. Feels more like July than peak season. Not what we are used to for February in Punta Cana.

I have not heard or seen anything that would account for that. Prices to the Royal Suites are a little higher but nothing that would relate to closing buffetts you suggested it is usually packed.
