Our stay was fabulous and very relaxing. (Did I mention that the room - 3084 - was magnificent?) We had private covered Bahia beds just steps from our room. The beaches are small but, very quiet - especially Sunset Cove. Make sure you bring an appetite and visit the Jerk Hut - Wow!! All of the al a carte restaurants had delicious food and top notch service. From the hostess to the waiters, each person made us feel like family and always asked if we were happy. The main pool gets very busy but, we spent most of our time at the Adult Pool and Relax Pool which were lots of fun - great bartenders at both pools. Most of the al a carte restaurants get busy after 7pm - so eat early. The Infinity Bar over the main pool is an amazing spot for photos and the perfect place to relax at night as a cool breeze seeps in.
We did an excursion to Negril for some shopping and to see Rick's Cafe. Do your shopping at the duty-free stores. The local craft markets are high-pressure sales and prices much higher than the duty-free stores. It rained at Rick's Cafe but, it was still an exciting visit - it gets packed!! We went into Montego Bay and found the prices twice what Negril was for the same stuff. Our advice - buy in Negril and sight-see in Montego Bay.
We found drinks in Jamaica much stronger than the other Grand Palladiums we stayed at. So drink responsibly. Jamaica was much more laid-back than other locations, so keep that in mind. But, everyone was very nice. Landscapers even opened up coconuts for us to have fresh coconut water!!
The only issue we had was with our return transfer to the airport through Reggae Tours. We kept trying to reach them by phone and email to get a later transfer to the airport but, could never get through. We, also, needed to tell then we had moved from the Jamaica side to the Lady Hamilton side. On the day of our departure, we waited on the Jamaica side for 30 minutes after our pick-up time. We had to have Reception call them to get our ride.
The resort is between Montego Bay and Negril near a little town called Lucea. It sits by itself making it clear of tourist traffic and very quiet. You can walk off the resort and not be bothered by vendors and get some beautiful photos of the countryside. If you are looking for a relaxing resort where the staff is always concerned about your comfort at a bargain price - this Grand Palladium will provide top-level luxury service for a price you will find very reasonable. We were 100% happy with our stay at the resort. It is truly a wonderful resort, well kept and in a perfect location. Well done Grand Palladium. And to Shelton at the Lady Hamilton reception desk - Thank You for going far beyond our expectations and making the difference in our room and stay.
